World Cup Betting Odds: Netherlands On Upset Alert

So far, the 2010 World Cup has been anything but predictable for gamblers. The tournaments top seeded teams have lost some surprising games, and it has led gamblers to take some chances on the underdogs moving forward.

The first major World Cup betting upset came when Spain, the number one ranked team in the world, lost to Switzerland. It was a loss that cost sports books around the world millions of dollars in revenue.

On Friday, there were three matches, and all three ended with the favorites not winning the games. In the early match, perhaps the biggest shocker of the day occurred when Serbia defeated Germany. The German team had looked dominant in their opening match, and the loss to Serbia shows just how evenly matched all of these squads are.

The US was a favorite over Slovenia, but they were stunned by two early Slovenian goals. The US fought back and gained the tie, but again the betting favorite did not win the game. The late game featured England, the eighth ranked team in the world, and Algeria.

Although Algeria was a large underdog, they managed a draw. Now, the group with Algeria, Slovenia, the US, and England, is wide open going into the last round of matches.

The Netherlands are the biggest gambling favorites on the board today. The Netherlands have odds of -250, compared to the +725 odds for japan to pull the upset.

Two other matches will be played in South Africa today, and they are neither involve heavy favorites. Ghana is expected to defeat Australia, and Denmark is a slight favorite over Cameroon.

World Series Of Poker Update: Phil Ivey Moves On In Heads-Up Event

This year, the well-known professional poker players have not made as big of a splash as they have in past years at the World Series of Poker. The events in Las Vegas have passed the halfway point, and many high profile players have yet to take home a bracelet.

Phil Ivey is attempting to change all of that. Ivey has come out of the gate firing in Event #35, a Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship tournament. Ivey is among a group of pros that are still around in the event that saw 256 players enter.

In a Heads-Up event, it is player versus player. The dynamic of others at the table is eliminated, and Ivey is usually at his best when he is going head to head against another player. Ivey ran into Victor Ramdin in the second round, and was able to defeat Ramdin. The win allowed both Ivey and Ramdin to move along to another tournament they had been entered in.

With the win over Ramdin, Ivey secured his spot in the third round. He will be joined there by fellow players David Williams, Antonio Esfandiari, Gavin Smith, and Brian Rast. There are still 104 players remaining from the starting field.

The buy-in for the Heads-Up championship event was $10,000, and the field was capped at 256 players. The total prize pool stretches just over $2.4 million, and the tournament will continue through Saturday, and conclude on Sunday.

Most players are concerned with earning the gold WSOP bracelet, but some players are in it to win their share of the prize pool. First place prize money for this event will be $625,682. The second place winner will earn $36,636, and third and fourth will win $214,289. The top thirty-two finishers will all receive a portion of the prize pool.

6/19 Massachusetts Senate Gambling Bill Leaves Out Slots At Tracks

Massachusetts Senate Gambling Bill Leaves Out Slots At Tracks

Play Now at Lucky 18 Casino! The Massachusetts Senate shared their expanded gambling bill with the public this week, and it looks much more like what Governor Duval Patrick had in mind when he pushed for additional gambling. The Senate bill differs from the House bill in the idea that it does not call for slots at state racetracks.

House Speaker Robert DeLeo helped get a bill approved in the House that would have given state racetracks the right to offer slot machines. The bill was largely criticized by Gov. Patrick, and he even went as far as to say he would consider vetoing the legislation if it passed.

The Senate this week sided with the governor, and left the tracks out of the Senate legislation. Another big change to an earlier version of the Senate bill is that one of the three casino resort licenses would no longer be guaranteed to a Massachusetts Indian tribe.

The bill is a long way from passing, with opponents sticking to their guns. The anti-gambling groups claim that the state has not adequately studied the effects that expanded gambling would have on Massachusetts. The opposition also contends that the costs of bringing casino resorts to the state have not been identified.

Proponents of the bills in both the House and the Senate believe that the casino resorts would provide a huge economical boost. They also point to Massachusetts residents that are currently taking their gambling money to neighboring states. The lawmakers want to bring the money back to Massachusetts.

In recent years, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, and Delaware have all expanded their gambling options. Pennsylvania legislators have gone as far as to legalize table games for casinos in the state. In Delaware, sports betting has been legalized.

World Series Of Poker Update: Keikoan Wins Limit Hold'em Title

The drama at the World series of Poker is growing as the WSOP moves closer to its main event. This week, however, the focus has been on Event #29, a Limit Hold'em World Championship tournament, and finally that event has come to a conclusion.

Matt Keikoan outlasted David Idema to take home the title and the $425,969 first place prize. Idema was rewarded for his second place finish with $263,243. Kyle Ray from Fayetteville, Goergia came in third and also won a six figure cash prize.

Event #28, a Pot-Limit Omaha tournament has concluded, and Miguel Proulx has beaten out 595 other players to take home the top prize. Loren Klein from Golden, Colorado is the runner-up, banking $195,147. Proulx not only won the gold bracelet, but also received $315,311 for his efforts. The buy-in for this tournament was $2,500.

Christopher Gonzalez is currently the chip leader in Event $30, a No-Limit Hold'em tourney. There are twenty-one players remaining from a starting field of 2,394. The fields for the No-Limit Hold'em tournaments have been thinning as the WSOP has worn on.

Many gamblers come to Las Vegas when the WSOP begins with a certain budget. The players use their budget on select tournaments early on, hoping to strike gold. The winners usually will stick around until the main event, while the losers will head back to their hometowns.

Four other events are in progress, with the Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em, Championship set to begin at 5PM. On Saturday, a $1,000 buy-in, No-Limit Hold'em event will begin at noon, and a $3,000 H.O.R.S.E event will commence.

6/17 US Casino News : Georgia Attorney General Seeking Gambling Expansion

Georgia Attorney General Seeking Gambling Expansion

Around the US, there are many issues that are defining political races for the upcoming election in November. The issue, however, that is creating the most controversy is gambling. With many states expanding their gambling options in recent years, it if forcing other states to keep up.

In Georgia, Attorney general and Gubernatorial candidate Thurbert Baker is among those who believe that expanded gambling would be good for the state. Baker would like to see electronic bingo pay for the state's education system.

Georgia is one of the states where the education budget is facing severe deficits. Baker believes that gambling dollars could go a long way in changing the future of many students in the Georgia school system. Baker estimates that over two billion dollars could be raised for education in a decade.

"To those who say it can't be done, that is what they said about the lottery and the HOPE scholarship," said Baker, while speaking at a news conference at the state Capitol on Wednesday. Baker is currently not the leader in the polls to win the governor job, and his opponents have differing views on expanded gambling.

Although Baker unveiled his plan this week, he will have to move quickly to get his word out to voters. The primary in Georgia is set for July 20th, leaving just over a month for Baker to convince Georgia residents that the gambling revenue is needed.

Roy Barnes is currently the favorite to win the primary, and he is being sure not to draw lines in the sand this late in the race. Barnes claims that he would be in favor of the electronic bingo gambling if the voters approved the idea and it would bring revenue into the education system.

Georgia must move quickly if they are going to keep up with neighboring Florida. Lawmakers in Florida have recently approved a gambling compact with the Seminole Indians that will allow blackjack and baccarat to be played at Seminole casinos. Las Vegas executives have also been in Tallahassee to lobby for full scale casino resorts in South Florida.

WSOP Results: Gambling Prowess Pays Off For Farha Again

Sammy Farha has been involved with these bracelet presentations several times in the past, but they never get old. On Tuesday, Farha won his third World series of Poker gold bracelet after defeating James Dempsey in an Omaha Hi-Low Championship event.

Farha had lingered near the top of the leader board for much of the day, and when the time came to go heads-up with Dempsey, Farha showed why he is a three time champion. Dempsey was going for his second bracelet this year, but Farha proved too skilled in the five hour heads-up match.

For his win, Farha took home $488,241. He beat out 212 other players to win the tile, and now Farha will set his sights on a push for Player of the Year honors. Dempsey did not walk away empty handed, the second place finish netted Dempsey $301,789.

In other action on Tuesday at the WSOP, Event #24, a No-Limit Hold'em tourney, has reached the final table. JD McNamara is the chip leader with almost 2.4 million chips. Thanh dat Tran is right on McNamara's heals, holding just over 2.3 million chips. Jeffrey Tebben is the low stack at the table with 466,000 chips.

Daniel Negreanu is hovering near the top of the chip counts at Event #26, a No-Limit Hold'em/Six-Handed tournament. Negreanu is currently in fourth position, with just forty-five players remaining out of the 1,245 that entered the event. Jeffrey Papola is the chip leader.

Events #26, 27, 28, and 29 are all in progress, with the $10,000 buy-in Limit Hold'em World Championship being the big tournament in progress. Today, a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event will begin at noon, and a $1,500 H.O.R.S.E tourney begins at 5PM from the Rio in Las Vegas.

Beginners Guide to Gambling Onlin

Online gambling is a $12 billion dollar per-year industry across the globe and is growing each year. The high-tech advancements of computers and the internet has created an exciting new way for people around the world to play their favorite casino-style games right at home. The most popular online casinos offer blackjack, online casino slots, video poker, roulette, and of course, sportsbooks. Also available is baccarat, craps, pai gow, arcade games, poker, bingo, and many others. The games today have excellent graphics and provide players with a top-notch, quality experience.

One of the biggest myths about online gambling is that online casinos are unregulated by governments, therefore, are generally unsafe for players at home. The fact is, online gambling is heavily regulated and there are plenty of honest and trustworthy casinos online. In the United Kingdom (UK) for example, online gambling is perfectly legal and there are dozens of publicly traded companies offering casino games online to their customers. All throughout the Caribbean and most South American governments consider online gambling an extremely legitimate industry, with strict penalties for casinos that don't play by the rules.

Think of an online casino as an extension to a land-based casino, a place to have fun and play your favorite games with the chance of possibly making a few extra bucks, except you don't have to fight crowds to get into the parking lot, stand in a long line waiting to get a drink, or worry about whethor or not you can smoke inside. The fact is, online casino games are more entertaining and payout higher percentages than land-based casinos.

Hopefully, our beginners guide will provide the knowledge you need to start playing at the best online casinos! If you have any questions feel free to contact us at any time.

Who Audits Online Casinos?

In the introduction, we mentioned the strict regulations and auditing that online casinos in the UK and Caribbean must undergo by their respective governments. There are also organizations online such as the eCommerce Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCogra) agency, who examines online casinos for honorable payout rates and accuracy in their games. There are now over 100 approved eCogra sites in the world and their standards are very high. The majority of those sites are 100% trustworthy and fair. There are also organizations like Price Waterhouse, who perform independent audits on each casino to assure fairness on a monthly basis. All of the online casinos displayed on our site are considered trustworthy and fair.

The Goal of an Online Casino

The goal of an online casino is to retain you as a customer permanently. They will do just about anything to keep you coming back for more, whether that means giving away free bonus cash, or other incentives. The last thing in the world they want to do is try and cheat you out of some money or elicit unfair gaming practices. That would totally defeat the purpose of retaining your business. A top casino will not steal your money, they will not hold your winnings unrightfully, and they will not take advantage of you. If they did that, you would never come back and play with them again, absolutely the opposite of their main intent.

Another reason an online casino will never cheat you is because if they did, it would be reported to someone and somehow word would get around that a particular online casino is dishonest. Once people find out about a cheating online casino, no affiliated website would ever promote them or it would ruin their own credibility. If a casino steals your money or provides unfair gaming it will go bankrupt real quick. It is in a online casino's best interest to have great customer support, to have fair games, and to actually have players win and then pay them out their winnings.

Getting Started With Online Casinos

Here is where the Casino Gambling Web comes in to the picture. Our site is loaded with information about gambling online. We feature the top news from the gambling industry and also dedicate dozens of pages to the best online casinos and sportsbooks in the world. Take your time, read through our site, pick the casino or sportsbook that is right for you. Learn about the different types of games available and trust our advice. Go to the casino you are interested in and read their terms and conditions before you take advantage of their signup bonuses. Download the casino of your choice and begin playing.

Follow all the directions the casino offers. Be sure to give your real first and last name, your real address on your i.d., your real email address, and your real phone number. It is important to give your real information because the casino you choose has security measures before you will be able to cash out your winnings. Most casinos will just give you your money when you cash out, however, if you win more than a certain amount they will ask for identification to be sure you are the person who the account is registered to, and if your i.d. does not match the profile you originally gave them, they will not give you your money. This is for your own safety, so do not get upset if you win a lot of money and have to go through some red tape. It is for your own benefit.

Brazil is one of the favorites to win the 2010 World Cup, but while other favorites England and Argentina have already played, Brazil has watched the Cup up until now. Today, the Brazilian team will be on the pitch with North Korea.

The game will feature one of the biggest betting lines of the entire tournament. Bodog has Brazil with odds of -1300. For gamblers, they had better be sure that North Korea will not pull the upset before making a bet. Gamblers will have to lay $1300 for every $100 they want to win.

The underdog gamblers have their chance to make a big score should North Korea shock Brazil. North Korea has odds of +2200, meaning that gamblers would win $2200 for every $100 wagered. That extreme betting line shows just how good this Brazilian team is expected to be.

While Brazil and North Korea will play in the featured time slot, two other matches are scheduled for today as well. Portugal will battle the Ivory Coast, and Slovakia will play New Zealand.

Portugal is a slight favorite over the Ivory Coast, with odds of +120. The Ivory Coast is +235. There is not much scoring expected in this match, with sports books placing the total at two goals. The Brazil, North Korea match has a betting total of three.

Slovakia, competing in the World Cup for the first time as their own nation, is favored over New Zealand with odds of -235. Again, the underdog gamblers will have a chance, with New Zealand returning odds of +675. The total for this game is two and a half.

On Wednesday, another one of the favored nations, Spain, takes the field. The Spanish team comes into the World Cup with several injury concerns, but they still will open as big favorites over Switzerland.

World Series Of Poker Recap: Dutch Boyd Wins Second Bracelet

Dutch Boyd was a World Series of Poker champion before he sat down for Event #23, a Limit Hold'em Six Handed event this past weekend. Like many other one time winners, however, Boyd was still in search of that signature second win to prove the first was no fluke.

On Monday, Boyd received that assurance. Boyd beat out 384 other players to claim victory in Event #23, and further cement himself in the memory banks of poker fans everywhere. This title was much different than his previous bracelet. Boyd was at a major disadvantage in chips at the final table, but persevered and eventually took down Brian Meinders.

For Meinders it was another bittersweet finish to a limit event at the WSOP. For the second consecutive year, Meinders made the final table of a limit event, and for the second straight year he fell short of winning the bracelet. Meinders did, however, pick up $144,650 for his efforts.

In other action, Event #24, a No-Limit Hold'em tourney with a $1,500 buy-in, has now reached the point where less than 100 players remain. Jaymes Rosenthal is the chip leader with 630,000 chips. Tim Zhou sits in second position with 270,000 chips.

A familiar name sits on top of the chip counts at the Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better World Championship tournament. Sammy Farha, an established pro, has almost three million chips. Only five players remain in the tournament, and they are battling for the top prize of $488,241.

Two events began on Monday and are in their early stages. Today, a Pot-Limit Omaha tourney will begin at noon, and Event #29, a Limit Hold'em World Championship with a $10,000 buy-in begins at 5PM. Check back daily for updates from the 2010 WSOP from the Rio in Las Vegas.

Pennsylvania Regulators To Be Busy Playing Table Games

Table games will become a reality in Pennsylvania casinos within the next couple of weeks. Before any of the casinos officially open the tables to customers, however, state regulators will try their hands at the games.

State law mandates that regulators must be present for a dry run with the table games. The regulators will then watch how the games are run, and give their final blessing to the casinos. It is a practice that takes place in every state where there is casino gambling.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse will get their day in the sun on July 11th. Inspectors will show up and play table games for eight hours. Once that inspection is complete, the table game betting can officially begin at Hollywood Casino two days later.

"While the casinos in Pennsylvania are extremely excited about the prospects of the table games, they must ensure that their operation of the games is up to state standards," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. "Any glitch could cost them valuable time and thousands of dollars in revenue should the regulators find that the games are not ready to be offered to customers."

Pennsylvania casinos may be working independently to attract6 gamblers, but they also are working collectively to topple the Atlantic City casino industry. The Pennsylvania casinos have already passed AC casinos in slot revenue back in December, and now they have their sights set on becoming the gambling capital of the Northeast.

For residents of Pennsylvania, the new table games will produce thousands of new employment opportunities. The state will receive millions of dollars in tax revenue that will go towards balancing the state budget.
