Pennsylvania Regulators To Be Busy Playing Table Games

Table games will become a reality in Pennsylvania casinos within the next couple of weeks. Before any of the casinos officially open the tables to customers, however, state regulators will try their hands at the games.

State law mandates that regulators must be present for a dry run with the table games. The regulators will then watch how the games are run, and give their final blessing to the casinos. It is a practice that takes place in every state where there is casino gambling.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse will get their day in the sun on July 11th. Inspectors will show up and play table games for eight hours. Once that inspection is complete, the table game betting can officially begin at Hollywood Casino two days later.

"While the casinos in Pennsylvania are extremely excited about the prospects of the table games, they must ensure that their operation of the games is up to state standards," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. "Any glitch could cost them valuable time and thousands of dollars in revenue should the regulators find that the games are not ready to be offered to customers."

Pennsylvania casinos may be working independently to attract6 gamblers, but they also are working collectively to topple the Atlantic City casino industry. The Pennsylvania casinos have already passed AC casinos in slot revenue back in December, and now they have their sights set on becoming the gambling capital of the Northeast.

For residents of Pennsylvania, the new table games will produce thousands of new employment opportunities. The state will receive millions of dollars in tax revenue that will go towards balancing the state budget.
